Frigid Frenzy

Oh the weather outside is frightful . . . but that never stops Old Ozarkian Distillery! Colder temperatures just mean higher proofs and oak pushing whiskey back into the barrel.

Despite the frozen temperatures, exciting developments are taking place at OOD. We are proud to offer our new high-proof series. This is an extremely limited release of our celebrated whiskeys and bourbons at barrel-strength. Unfortunately, due to our small-batch, single-barrel philosophy, once these bottles are purchased, we will be sold out until the next barrel is dumped.

We are THRILLED to announce that the long anticipated Bloody Bill label has finally been approved by the state of Missouri and is at the printers! Bloody Bill, made from beautiful, heirloom reddish-purple Bloody Butcher Corn, should be available for tastings and purchase early February.

A serendipitous meeting has created a beautiful partnership! As followers of OOD already know, we believe in hand-picking our heirloom corn. We then take the corn off the cob either by hand (in the case of pencil corn) or using hand-crank corn shellers. The end result is nice, clean corn for whiskey—and a whole lot of leftover cobs. We’ve now found a wonderful use for these leftovers! The Missouri Meerschaum Company, original and now only corn cob pipe factory will be using Old Ozarkian cobs for some of their pipes! We are so grateful to be a small part of their 154-year-old history!

With the weather too wicked outside, come join us at Old Ozarkian Distillery and warm up the OOD way! Or if you prefer, pour a glass at home, watch frost patterns grow on the window glass, and raise a toast to winter in the Ozarks! S.D.G.
