Giving Thanks . . .
Winter is coming fast! While the busy holiday season is upon us, her at OOD, we’re breathing deep sighs of contented relief. THE CORN IS IN! We had a bumper crop of Bloody Butcher this year! A big thanks to all our friends who helped us out in the corn fields this year, sweating (or freezing) and hand-picking our beautiful corn. Since all but one of our fields are hand-picked, corn season is a tremendous effort! While our new Looney White corn was very popular with the local racoon population, we secured enough for seed next year. We’re so eager to see what flavors this new variety adds to our whiskeys and bourbons!
Before corn-picking craziness began, OOD enjoyed a robust summer and early fall season. We were thrilled to have enjoyed an enthusiastic response at the Missouri Bourbon Festival. Our spirits were shared with new faces at the Hermann SmokeFest and Branson Whiskey Fest. As my dad always says, “We make whiskey for friends.” It’s lovely to be able to take part in these events, reaching new friends in new places.
Speaking of friends, OOD is extremely grateful for new collaborations this autumn. A big thanks to Theirbach Orchards for their tireless efforts. Shine-E-Apple would not be nearly as delicious without their cider. Also, who knew that whiskey and bourbon marry wonderfully with port? We are most appreciative of Mount Pleasant Estates Winery for the invitation to its Port and Bourbon Pairings Event. This was such an enjoyable, enlightening event! Please follow Mount Pleasant Estates Winery for additional future events!
As always, we appreciate all of you who support our family-run distillery. We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and include all of you when we reflect on our blessings this past year. Cheers!
