The Ozark Mountain Range is one of the oldest mountain ranges in North America. Worn down from rain, floods, snow and ice, the remnants of these mountains give way to our rocky earth, creeks full of gravel, rich river bottoms, and water heavy in limestone deposits—perfect for making whiskey. Life in the Ozarks was hard, isolated, and slow-paced. Floods, droughts, storms, ice, snow, bugs and critters made growing crops hard. Hard land made hard, hearty people—Ozarkians.
