Maple Leaves are Falling . . .

“Corn picking sounds like it would be fun. But it isn’t.”—7 year old granddaughter

When you do everything the hard way, there’s no end to the busy season. Autumn at Old Ozarkian Distillery is the busiest by far. We’ve been gathering cider and spices to add to our unaged whiskey in order to produce more Shine-E-Apple this season. We’ve been warned that the late frost affected the local apple crop, but we’re hoping to have plenty of this sneaky strong sweet drink to warm everyone over these cooler months.

Corn picking is under way! If you havent’ seen it already, be sure to check out last month’s update for the photo of the Bloody Butcher “crop.” Be that as it may, Pencil Cob Corn and Boone County White are filling the bags. The Boone ears are so big this year that it’s filling the sacks in no time!

Over in the distillery, we’re continuing to distill out Thomas’ Rebellious Rye. The more we distill, the sooner we fill a barrel and allow time to work her magic!

The Belle (of Beaufort) made her debut at the tasting room just before the end of September. Her rest in the port wine barrel brought out luscious notes of stone fruit, black cherry, and port wine.

Just in time for the cool Autumn weather, BVB Maple is being cut and bottled. We’re introducing a hit of pure maple syrup into our Bourbeuse Valley Bourbon for rounded yet complex, sweet, spicy Autumn perfection!

Please join us and THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH for our GRAND OPENING!!! We’re looking forward to sharing our new whiskeys and bourbons with our friends and celebrating this wonderful season in the Ozarks!
